Shirodhara is the procedure in which medicated oil, milk, etc. liquid is poured in a continuous stream of
drip on forehead. Shirodhara keeps the mind calm and helps to resolve the problems of stress. Just as a
continuous stream of cold water is dripped on shivalinga which helps to make lord shiva calm, shirodhara dose the same
Pre Procedure
Oil, milk or any selected liquid is taken luke warm and paitent is asked to lie down in supine position
on shirodhara dhroni.
Main Procedure
Selected liquid is poured in the dhara patra and dripped over the forehead of patient in continuous
manner neither very fast nor too slow. When liquid starts dripping vessel is moved in pendulum manner
starting from one lateral side to another. Liquid is collected and refilled in vessel in luke warm
condition. Process is continued for about 45 minutes.
Post Procedure
After dhara process is completed head is wiped out and dried, followed by head massage and rest for sometime. Patient should not be allowed to go in direct air place.
Indication
Shirodhara is indicated in all stress related and psychosomatic diseases.
