Snehana means the therapy which provides oiling to the body. It is done as external oleation or by internal oleation or by both as per the requirement of the body. It is the major preparatory procedure of panchakarma processes. Snehana is not only done as preparatory process but also done in treatment of many diseases.
Sneha As Preparatory Procedure Internal sneha is given before performing panchakarma main procedures. It is given for 3/5/7 days. It helps to mix up with toxins, so that toxins will easily come out of the body.
After that external oleation in the form of massage is done which helps to move the toxins towards koshtha.
Sneha As Main Procedure Sneha is given according to dosha, dhatu etc, which helps to cure the diseases.
